Nutshell Kingdom: a pattern of lies
2005

A guy at my office asked if I wanted to be involved in the office NCAA tournament pool. This was after he caught me filling out brackets. I was flattered, being only a temp.

* btw: stating the obvious, but NCAAs is the best workday ever - no one cares who's not working and often, everyone is not working for the same reason. To quote Rich, "Yay sports!"*

So I agree and he tells me its only $5 to enter. At which point, I decline and tell him that I can't gamble for religious reasons. Wha??

I don't know - I guess in my head it was better to admit to zealotry than to poverty.

Most people lie to look better in the eyes of other; braver, stronger, more dignified. My lies always make me look crazier than I really am.
