Nutshell Kingdom: Observation and a very short story with no moral
2005

The National Restaurant Association down the street is flying their giant American flag upside down today. I hope someone is getting a big laugh, after having dramatically walked off the job, rather than some poor guy being yelled at for an early morning mistake.

Yesterday, I got to go behind the counter of my drycleaners ($1.75 Dryclean Town in Rockville) and play with the little foot-pedal that makes the clothes move on the machine, due to the fact that they lost four pairs of pants and a blazer. It gets really hot back there. I feel bad for those people.
