Nutshell Kingdom: Second Confession
2005

Back in March, I set a writing goal for the week. It wasn't set in pages per day or hours or words. Quantifiable goals have never interested me very much.

I wanted to make someone (anyone, really) cry.

Miracle: within the week, someone wrote me to tell me that my post had made them cry.

It works for me. In my crazy, house-of-mirrors brain, this is the best I have to give. Its the inverse of making people happy. Two sides of the same coin. Play your slot.

Now there's a focus, a lazy fixed vector. I want to make you cry. Especially if I have to make you really happy to get there.
