Nutshell Kingdom: Guitars, Cadillacs, Hillbilly Music
2005

Now that it's Friday and not so freaking hot, I'm thinking of what to do with myself on my Half-Day Friday (2 and a half day weekend) and I'm thinking I'm going to take a little spin, "goin' up country," in the words of Canned Heat.

Sadly, I don't have a giant Caddy, but I have my little silver Beetle and some new CDs (Otis Redding, Booker T. and the MGs, Funk-Soul classics - ok, not exactly hillbilly music, but then again, it's a VW Beetle, not a Cadillac). I'm going to drive far and relatively slow and find a motel where I can check in under a false name, buy a six pack, smoke and listen to music through the night.

It's not technically a long weekend, but if use my imagination, I can stretch it out for a while.
