Nutshell Kingdom: A Screaming Comes Across the Railroad Tracks. Johnny is Killed, His Bike Thrown Clear in a Perfect Arc of Chrome, Secret Plot Suspected
2007

I got two projects for my birthday (well, three if you count the entire lemon poundcake I plan to eat by myself - it's like air conditioning for your stomach!). First, I received Against the Day, the new 1100 page Thomas Pynchon novel. Second, I got the 4-CD boxset One Kiss Leads to Another, a monstrous collection of sixties girl group recordings packaged in a giant zebra-print hatbox. Hopefully, these two items/artifacts will absorb much of my energy for the coming month or two, and if I'm correct about my penchant for being unbelievably impressionable, should create for pretty interesting writing. Pynchon meets the Shangri-Las, right here on Nutshell Kingdom! Hooray for birthdays.
