Nutshell Kingdom: Drunkard's Prayer
2008

Dear God, is it ok that I pray to You when I am drunk?  The only reason I ask is that I was reading this thing the other day that said that prayers weren't monologues, but rather actual conversations with You, implying of course that You communicated back in some way, that You tell us things, offer guidance, etc.  Now, my question is, if I am drunk and talking to You, and I know from experience that I am more susceptible to pressure to do things I would not ordinarily do when I've not been drinking, and say that You are guiding me in a certain direction, isn't that like sort of taking advantage of me in my more impressionable state?  Not that I've ever minded -- I am a grown person and can make my own decisions -- I just don't want You to feel bad, or like I was only doing things because I was judgment-impaired.  Honest, I like doing things for You, for Your glory, etc., etc.; I just wanted to make sure You were ok with it and that You realize I'm not always such a babbling alcoholic,  in fact, only when I talk You, it seems, which really is just bad timing.
