Post-Modern Drunk: Corn Whiskey Random Ten (12/9/05)
  1. "Holiday Road" by matt pond PA, from Winter Songs LP
8/10 - From a sweet little LP celebrating winter, a cover of the Lindsay Buckingham song from "National Lampoon's Vacation"--not as fun as the original, but sweet and happy.
  2. "L'art d'Ecouter" by DJ Vadim, from U.S.S.R. The Art Of Listening
9/10 - French rap, with a sample played over and over that just rocks my world. The song is five minutes long--listening to it usually lasts about seven because I keep backtracking to hear the sample over and over.
  3. "Primitive (The Way I Treat You)" by Ambulance LTD, from Ambulance LTD
9/10 - I missed a chance to see these guys play for free, opening for Guided by Voices. I'm very unhappy with that.
  4. "Glass Onion" by The Beatles, from The White Album
8/10 - All you need is love, John Lennon, smart man, shot in the back, very sad.
Yes. I just quoted "Independence Day." I will now kick my own ass.
And Lennon was shot in the chest.
  5. "Postal Blowfish" by Guided by Voices, from Brain Candy OST
6/10 - Newly imported, I've never listened to this before. Guided by Voices have put out so much music that it's just daunting to wade through it and find the stuff that's actually good. And this isn't bad.
  6. "The Ocean" by Dar Williams, from Mortal City
    8/10 - Yeah, it's chick rock. And it's good.
  7. "Too Little Too Late" by Metric, from Live It Out
6/10 - Another new song for me. And I'll probably listen to it again. Ask me later.
  8. "I've Been Tired" by Pixies, from Come On Pilgrim
7/10 - "Just kidding," I said. "Losing my life to a whore with disease."
    She said, "Excuse me, please?"
  9. "The Ocean Breathes Salty" by Sun Kil Moon, from Tiny Cities
9/10 - One of my favorite Modest Mouse songs gets a Mark Kozelek makeover, and comes out better for it.
  10. "Sadie" by Joanna Newsom, from The Milk-Eyed Mender
10/10 - Bjork mimicking Tom Waits? How the hell do you describe this?
Okay. I got it. One of my favorite songs in I can't remember how long.
8/10 - The strongest Random 10 so far.
