sunshine jen: Life Experience

I was higher educated for six damn years
to be master of a dying art.
Full of knowledge, full of fear,
I knew a lot but not my heart.

Now I've got this damn c.v.
full of jobs and experience.
I just don't know how to fly free
I've got too many words for ref'rence.

Why do we put so much emphasis
on our life experience
if we're gonna do the same damn thing
over and over again?
How do we find the quality
of our life experience
if we're going nowhere
caught in the money snare?

My girlfriends sit and tell me
that my love life's just like theirs.
They've lived the same purgatories,
the same heartbreaks and affairs.

I drink my drink with my mouth shut
as they talk on and on,
and sure I might be in a rut,
but my experiences are my own.

Why do we put so much emphasis
on our life experience
if we're gonna do the same damn thing
over and over again?
How do we find the quality
of our life experience?
When do we start to care?
When do we start to dare?

I might experience too much
and analyze too little.
I might analyze too much.
and experience too little.
But I'll tell ya what,
here's what I'll do:
I'll write it all down,
and file it under 'blue'
cause I can file too,

Why do we put so much emphasis
on our life experience
if we're gonna do the same damn thing
over and over again?
