elanamatic: Morning
I know I have been sleeping for a long long time, but I decided to finally wake up and write something.

Speaking of waking up, one of my favourite meals of the day is breakfast. I love breakfast. I used to skip it when I was a teen and force myself to gulp down a glass of OJ to please my dad. I just couldn't bear the thought of eating a slice of toast or a bowl of cereal. Also I was perpetually late for school, my carpool would be honking outside and I would just be clambering out from under the sheets. Breakfast was never much of an option.

As I got older, I started to explore this whole brunch phenomena. I liked it good. Especially when hungover. Breakfast food took on a whole new delight.

Now in my more mature (!) years I have somehow transformed into a morning person. I still don't exactly like getting out of bed, but once I do (usually to either take a long hot shower, or go for a run) I am full of energy. I also tend to wake up hungered. One of my favourite weekday morning brekkies is oatmeal with blueberries (or bananas in winter) and soymilk. Plus a steaming hot mug of Ideal Coffee. It puts me right. I feel like Old Man Quacker Oat, only organic and female and more stylish.

This morning, I slept in a little late and eventually clambered my way down stairs. I shoudl've rushed off to work, but I knew there was just enough blueberries left in the fridge for a bowl of yum. I sat there and enjoyed my meal while flipping through last month's Wired mag with Al Gore on the cover.

Then I hopped my bike and pedaled like mad to get to work. As I was walking into the building, I caught site of a woman with a Diet Coke in one hand and a smoke in another. Now, I know some people don't go for early morning meals. One guy I used to work with always ate a chocolate bar at around 10. But Diet Coke at 9 in the morning is replusive.

The end.
