Pony: All about the pony today
11.5.2003

I am on my second try at reading "Midnight's Children" and finding it infinitely easier to read since returning from India.

I got an "A" in my short article in magazine writing class. You may kiss my ring.

I am chronically insecure about my writing abilities (this is not a fishing rod for complements), so these kinds of ego boosts are much appreciated.

I chewed nicorette yesterday. It tasted like pepper.

I got blabbed somehow or other on this Toronto election blog.
My words are taken a bit out of context, and without an understanding of the slightly satirical tone (or the largely Yankee audience that makes up Happyrobot), but it is a public domain, so I can't complain. And it is a bit cool to get read by people who actually live here. Viva la interweb!

I go to Urban Outfitters sometimes before class, and it always makes me sad.

I am sure I am not the only one who can do this, but I was talking to a friend the other day who told me to see "Whale Rider".

I asked her what it was about, and she said: "it is about a girl who is born into a Maori family descended from the mythic Whale Rider, but the only one left to inherit the title in this family is a girl."

"Oh," I continued for her, "and she is the true Whale Rider inheritor, but she is a girl and her od grandfather won't accept that a girl could have inherited the gift.
She knows something, however, in her innocent savant way. She sets out to prove her worth on a quest to find a lost, sacred object of spiritual and cultural significance. When she finds it and returns, they are ready to accept her gift, because changing your mind is proof that you have one."

"Oh, you saw it?"

no.
