Pony: Chris and Valentine
2.14.2004

Beautiful party last night at our place for Chris' birthday. And today is Valentine's Day. Good food, good wine, good peeps and giftees. Yay!
I think we are going out for Korean food.

I am not a big proponent of Valentines' Day with all its bleeding heart hyperbole and refined sugar. According to an article I read, it was initially a day when Romans would bid on teenage women who would be their love slaves for a year. Also, in the 14th century in Strassbourg, some 200 Jews were burned at the stake on this day. So could you please pass the bonbons?

When I was a kid, my mom used to buy us each flowers of VD day. She is always uber-generous, but the flowers always caught me by surprise.
