Pony: On Horseback
3.9.2004

At Abi's place a few weeks ago, her friend from India - a thoughtful, lovely man who carries a tiny set of watercolors and paper with him wherever he goes - told me of an interesting saying:

When you travel, your soul follows on horseback.

He had been to Kerala to visit family a few months ago, and when he came back, he was not feeling like himself for a long time, that is until quite recently, he conjectured, when his soul (and, we imagine, the exhausted horse) finally made it home.

I keep thinking about that. We leave our homes at our own risk, i tell you.
