Pony: On why I have not cut out chocolate and cheese quite yet
3.8.2007

My good friend whose baby is a couple of months older than G. has complained that her baby wakes up every 3 hrs. I'm not one to participate in games of baby-oneupsmanship, but I would be THRILLED at 3 hours sleep in a row.

Thing is, Gabriel wakes up every 1-2.5 hours with gas pains in the night. And I have read a LOT. Immature digestive system is one theory. As is the world weary 'some babies just get that'. But the most popular theory by far is: "Well, what are YOU eating that he is not tolerating via your breastmilk".

Cut out cheese. All dairy. Chocolate. Spices. Wheat. Citrus. Nuts. ANd then MAYBE you will notice a difference. At least that is the theory.

After 10 months of having your body as an incubator, forgoing all intoxicating substances, blimping out, giving birth, losing 20 lbs in 1 week, having a month of bleeding, turning into a human milk factory and having no sleep to recover from all these huge body traumas.... To then have to cut out all the fun food for the forseeable future kind of sucks.

So yeah - I am not cutting out chocolate this week. Does that make me a bad mom?
