Pony: Some things about 18 months

The You and the Me and Nigella Lawson
G. is really into pointing to himself and shouting "Me!" and then he will point to people or pictures of people and say: "A Man!" or he will point to me and say "A Mama" and Kiff and say "A Daddy!"

The other day G. pointed to a picture of Nigella Lawson and pronounced: "Mama!"

Umbrella!
My friend's son is the same age as G and he can already count to 20. Not that I compare. I just don't think our learning trajectory is going to be quite so quantifiable. G, meanwhile, likes to pull the sheet over his head and stand up like a hallowe'en ghost and stomp and shout Umbrella!Umbrella!Umbrella!. We have no idea what that means.

The Potty
We have been talking about the potty for a while now. He would sit on it. get up. Put his toys it. Last night, before his bath,  I asked him if he wanted to pee while I went pee. I sat down on the toilet and he sat on his potty and went pee!  Parents of toddlers, mark my words: If you get your little boy on the potty, make sure his penis is pointing down, not aimed like a water pistol in your direction.
He was so excited to have had a successful potty experience, he jumped all over me, laughing. (quiet down, dr. freud)

Dackle!
I remember how good it used to feel to get my back scratched when I was a kid, especially the lightest of tickles. After a pee in the potty, an awesome bubble bath and a hyper game of umbrella, I needed to calm Gabriel down before bed, so I tickled his arms with the lightest touch. "tickle!" I said.
He stopped jumping and got really focused. A little smile came up on his face. Then he started pointing to his back. "Dackle!" he commanded.
