The new voting technology, developed by a company owned by a vigorous right-winger, can easily be cracked. In Florida, Katherine Harris scrubbed something like 57,000 African American votes by accidentally listing them as felons. The NAACP sued and won, but thus far the "list" has yet to be rectified- la de da.
Yeah, he'll win- sure enough. And it won't be because the American people hate gay people or like Mars.
That guy does stuff. He just does it. And people can't compile enough proof and common-sense and look- LOOK will you! To make it stop, or to even slow him down. He just keeps on doing his thing, stuff that people can't get their brains around- Senators sit there numb, within his own party people just can't believe. We've never had a conversation like this. We've never, ever hung in this place. This isn't "big government vs. states rights" or "cattle ranchers vs. the environment".
How will he not win? What will make all that "proof" coalesce and actually mean something? Not Kerry, not Dean- not Salon.com or even what's his name Fox guy becoming disillusioned.
It'll come from his own party, is my guess. Because besides all the other things Bush is, one thing for sure- he's a terrible, terrible Republican. Fiscal responsibility? Ha. Small government? Double Ha.
He's a terrible business man- here he could do anything he wanted, got his finger in the mid-east oil pie and the cash is bleeding out to Halliburton vendors!? You're letting the Kuwaitis over charge you? Unforgivable. Not to mention that "Bring It On" comment- to people who lived through WWII? ("Bring it on Hitler! Bring it on you poo-boy kamikaze pilots!").
I imagine 70 year old hard-core right wing Senators explaining to the secret service "sonny, that kid in there needs a bitch slap and I'm the one here to give it to him".
It'll be an older Republican- a group probably a la a John Grisham novel. They'll gather in secret and decide something must be done. One of the Senators will have a granddaughter that suffers from asthma. And that senator with the daughter with the disease that could be cured if stem-cell research was allowed to continue, he'll be there too. Another one who always hated that prick Cheney, he screwed him in some energy-deal. And what they'll do is gather some leaks. More then one- a whole series actually. And they'll fire them off, one after another. I don't know what form they'll take, enough for impeachment (if that's how baby Bush wants to play it), probably just enough to make the media sing long and hard, so the vote riggers would not have the nerve to push buttons. (People in suits do go to prison- sometimes it happens).
They'll do this in such a way as to distance them selves from the fall-out. They'll know even when Kerry takes it, he'll have such a mess to clean up, he'll never come out looking good, and constantly pointing his finger back to the previous administration- that'll just come off looking weak and pathetic and THEN in 2008 we'll get that boy McCain up in there. If he'd just shut it about all his good ole gay war buddies, he'd be O.K.; he's someone you can work with.
